Thermal Foundation Mod is required for the Thermal Series (Thermal Expansion, Thermal Dynamics) and gives modpack makers a way to add resources to their worlds without needing to install all of the tech and other goodies that come with the other mods.
Installation:

• Download and run the latest version of Minecraft Forge 1.9
• Download and install CoFH Core
• Go to Start Menu > Type %appdata%/.minecraft/mods
• Download the mod
• Move the downloaded Jar (zip) file into the “mods” folder
• Done and Enjoy the mod.
